About the role

  • Provides leadership in clinical practice, facilitates safety education, and promotes a culture of safety for patients, clients, families, and team members throughout the organization.
  • Serves as a safety leader, collaborating with front line staff to ensure competent and safe care to children and families.
  • Participates in safety related clinical improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a change agent to lead, facilitate and support staff to create and sustain a culture of high reliability that focuses on elimination of preventable harm.
  • Facilitates and coaches teams regarding risk assessment and analysis and assists them to develop action plans to prevent errors from future occurrences.
  • Analyzes data, identify trends and collaborate with others to take action on quality issues.
  • Supports the intake and classification of events into the reporting system and performs cause analysis of safety events in the organization.
  • Reviews safety events and develops appropriate tools and training so clinical program leadership learns how to conduct these reviews and can partner effectively with patient safety efforts.
  • Collaborates closely with the Risk Management Department in the review of serious safety events.

Compensation

  • Organizes an annual and on-going assessment of safety risks by working closely with the organizational leadership and works with the team to develop annual patient safety goals.
