  • Knowledge of basic math
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of fundamental concepts of insurance (including coverages & pricing)

  • Hours: Between 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • 15-30 hours per week during the school year depending on the applicant's schedule
  • 30-40 hours per week in the summer
  • Duties in the Underwriting Department include:
  • Evaluating risk acceptability based on driver quality, loss history, and overall business operations
  • Communicating pricing decisions to agents and answer questions
  • During this internship, the student will gain:
  • An understanding of basic commercial auto insurance underwriting
