About the role
- Role SLR Canada is looking for a highly motivated individual with excellent technical, communication, and interpersonal skills to play an important role on our Mine Waste Engineering team.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate within multidisciplinary project teams to provide specialized tailings and mine waste geotechnical expertise, integrating geotechnical findings with inputs from hydrotechnical, environmental, and mine planning disciplines to deliver practical and compliant design solutions.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients and internal teams.
- Provide hands-on project management, including the development of technical work plans, design memoranda, reports, and project specifications
- lead and coordinate site investigations, laboratory testing programs, and geotechnical analyses supporting tailings design, construction, and dam safety reviews.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and contracts, ensuring quality, efficiency, and compliance with client and regulatory requirements.
- Provide hands-on project management, including the development of technical work plans, design memoranda, reports, and project specifications; lead and coordinate site investigations, laboratory testing programs, and geotechnical analyses supporting tailings design, construction, and dam safety reviews.

Requirements
- Experience with geotechnical characterization and material behavior of tailings is considered a strong asset.
- Ability to work within multi and interdisciplinary project teams for opportunity development and project execution

- Minimum five years of experience in geotechnical consulting with a strong focus on mine waste and tailings engineering, including design, operation, and closure of tailings storage facilities (TSFs) and related mine infrastructure. Experience with geotechnical characterization and material behavior of tailings is considered a strong asset.
- Proven ability to plan and manage geotechnical and mine waste projects, including site investigations, laboratory testing and interpretation, slope stability and seepage analyses, drainage and foundation design, dam safety reviews, and geohazard assessments.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or eligibility for registration within the relevant jurisdiction.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to mine sites and remote project locations as required.
- Broader exposure to municipal, transportation, resource, and infrastructure sectors is an asset, particularly where geotechnical principles intersect with environmental and water management challenges.

Compensation
- The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000. Final agreed upon compensation will be commensurate with individual education, professional designation, experience, internal parity, and location
