About the role

  • The emergency and non-emergency Medical Services Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating and managing patient transport requests to ensure safe, timely, and efficient movement of patients across the healthcare system and community.
  • The Dispatcher prioritizes transport requests based on clinical urgency, resource availability, and operational efficiency while maintaining a high standard of customer service and patient-centered care.
  • include scheduling transports, assigning appropriate vehicles and crew configurations (wheelchair, stretcher, secured transport, BLS, ALS, specialty care), monitoring unit status, and providing real-time updates to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with field operations and clinical departments to optimize work flows and patient experience.
  • Optimize routes and schedules to ensure efficiency and on-time performance.

  • Assigns appropriate transport resources (NEMT, Secured Van, BLS, ALS, Specialty Care)
  • Models' effective problem solving and conflict resolution practices.
  • Verify patient readiness and special equipment for transport to minimize delays.
  • Communicate special handling or infection control requirements with drivers.
  • Complete administrative assignments assigned for regulatory and billing compliance.
  • Verify trip eligibility, authorizations, and payer requirements when applicable.
  • Monitor active trips and adjust assignments as needed.
  • Ensure Compliance with safety, regulatory, and organizational standards.

Skills

  • High School Graduate
  • 1 or more years Experience in dispatching OR
  • 1 or more years Customer service
  • Fluent English -
  • Basic understanding of EMS system design
  • Common medical terminology
