About the role
- The emergency and non-emergency Medical Services Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating and managing patient transport requests to ensure safe, timely, and efficient movement of patients across the healthcare system and community.
- The Dispatcher prioritizes transport requests based on clinical urgency, resource availability, and operational efficiency while maintaining a high standard of customer service and patient-centered care.
- include scheduling transports, assigning appropriate vehicles and crew configurations (wheelchair, stretcher, secured transport, BLS, ALS, specialty care), monitoring unit status, and providing real-time updates to stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Collaborates with field operations and clinical departments to optimize work flows and patient experience.
- Optimize routes and schedules to ensure efficiency and on-time performance.

- Assigns appropriate transport resources (NEMT, Secured Van, BLS, ALS, Specialty Care)
- Models' effective problem solving and conflict resolution practices.
- Verify patient readiness and special equipment for transport to minimize delays.
- Communicate special handling or infection control requirements with drivers.
- Complete administrative assignments assigned for regulatory and billing compliance.
- Verify trip eligibility, authorizations, and payer requirements when applicable.
- Monitor active trips and adjust assignments as needed.
- Ensure Compliance with safety, regulatory, and organizational standards.
Skills
- High School Graduate
- 1 or more years Experience in dispatching OR
- 1 or more years Customer service
- Fluent English -
- Basic understanding of EMS system design
- Common medical terminology
