About the role

  • The ideal candidate will have expertise in communications protocols, SCADA/HMI Software's and regulatory compliance within the power transmission and distribution industry.
  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Technical Expertise Interpret electrical diagrams for RTUs, communication switches, protocol converters, and I/O wiring.

Responsibilities

  • Provide construction support for projects involving SCADA, HMIs, RTUs and Programmable Automation Controllers (PACs).
  • Coordination & Communication Collaborate with project teams to communicate engineering designs clearly.
  • Assist with construction coordination and provide technical support during execution.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Manage schedules, deliverables, and provide timely progress reports.
  • Halker Consulting specializes in Oil and Gas surface facilities, Power infrastructure, Environmental remediation and design, Automation and Digital Solutions, and federal, state, and local regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the OSI model architecture and interpreting network diagrams.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • 3-5 years in SCADA, RTU and HMI programming, installation, troubleshooting, or commissioning within transmission and distribution substations.
  • Technical abilities: Experience working with multiple common power industry software including examples such as NovaTech Orion, GE D20, SEL DPACs/RTACs, SCADApack, SAGE T300, and ACS NTX.
  • Preferred: Professional Engineer (PE), ISA Certifications, or network certifications (e.g., CCNA).
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to substation and client sites as required.
