About the role

Responsibilities
- Build workpapers from tax returns and supporting documents to train our algorithms, and deepen the whole team's tax fluency along the way.
- Design the labeling & extraction schema - the fields, structure, and rules that turn a messy return into clean, machine-usable data.
- Shape the roadmap and our processes - your day-to-day tax experience directly informs what we build next and how we work.
- Partner with engineering and design to shape the roadmap for tax-document automation, prioritizing based on what accountants actually need.
- Strong communicator who can bridge deep tax expertise and engineering, own ambiguity, and collaborate with a distributed team.

Nice to have
- 3-5+ years total, with at least 3 in tax.
- Proven expertise in individual (Form 1040) tax.
- Senior Tax Associate level preferred
- an experienced Tax Associate will be considered.
- Previous employment at a top ~20 accounting firm (Big 4, Grant Thornton, or similar).
- Hands-on familiarity with mainstream tax prep software (a plus if you've worked across several).
- High-net-worth individual tax - preferred.
- Foreign / international tax.
Compensation
- $100-175K+ salary + bonus (depending on experience)
