About the role

  • The primary responsibility of this position is as a Diabetes Nurse Educator and for the insulin pump program.
  • The RN will also be involved in the development of electronic and educational resources for diabetes care and the insulin pump program.

Requirements

  • Certified Diabetes Educator (in progress or ability to achieve within one year) (Essential)
  • The nurse assigned to this position is required to function independently and as a member of the Diabetes team in order to provide family focused and evidence-based nursing practice.
  • Vulnerable Sector Check (Essential)
  • Current Certification of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (Essential)
  • Bilingualism (English/French) (Essential)
  • BScN (current or in progress) (Essential)
  • Certified insulin pump trainer (Essential)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (Essential)
  • Strong teaching skills (Essential)
  • Demonstrated professionalism and interest in self development (Essential)
  • Demonstrated strong family centered care skills (Essential)
  • Please note you will be represented by the Ontario Nurses Association, (ONA).

Nice to have

  • Minimum two years Diabetes Paediatric experience (Preferred)
  • Ambulatory Care experience (Preferred)
  • Advanced computer skills (Excel, Word, Epic, pump and meter downloads) (Preferred)
