About the role
- This role supervises and coordinates the installation, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of network hardware, operating systems, and supporting infrastructure services.
- The Data Center Manager provides direct oversight of Data Center operations across physical and virtual environments, including VMware, Windows, Linux, storage, database platforms, backup and recovery systems, and Citrix environments.
- This role ensures system availability, performance, security compliance, and alignment with Federal and NIH IT standards.
Responsibilities
- Supervise, coordinate, and perform additions, changes, and upgrades to operating systems, and associated devices
- Provide primary support for detection, diagnosis, and correction of operational issues across infrastructure environments
- Lead installation, configuration, testing, and integration of new hardware and software within the Data Center
- Participate in planning, design, technical review, and implementation of new infrastructure systems and upgrades
- Maintain and enforce infrastructure standards across enterprise systems
- Manage Windows and Linux server environments, including patching, performance tuning, and lifecycle management
- Maintain compliance with storage standards, encryption requirements, and federal data protection policies
- Support capacity planning, system forecasting, and infrastructure optimization initiatives

- Coordinate semi-annual and ad hoc recovery testing, including bare-metal restores
