About the role
- This includes the maintenance of hardware, software, networks, databases, and communication systems; ensuring that these systems are secure, efficient, and capable of supporting business objectives.

Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership:** Defining and executing Waystar's overall data strategy, including data governance, data quality, data architecture, and data analytics roadmap to support business objectives.
- Team Management & Development:** Building, mentoring, and leading a high-performing team of data engineers, data scientists, and data analysts, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Data Platform & Architecture:** Overseeing the design, development, and maintenance of scalable and robust data platforms, data warehouses, data lakes, and analytical tools. Evaluating and implementing new data technologies and solutions.
- Demonstrated success in building and scaling data platforms and analytics capabilities from the ground up.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to attract, develop, and retain top data talent.
- Ability to navigate complex technical and business challenges and drive initiatives to successful completion.
Requirements
- 10+ years of progressive experience in data management, data warehousing, business intelligence, and advanced analytics, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing large teams.
- Proven experience in defining and implementing data strategies and roadmaps in a complex organizational environment.
Nice to have
- Master's degree or Ph.D. preferred.
Skills
- Expertise in data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and data warehousing concepts.
- Proficiency with cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and related services (e.g., Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks).
- Strong command of SQL, Python, or R for data manipulation and analysis.
- Experience with business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker) and data visualization techniques.
- Familiarity with machine learning frameworks and statistical modeling.
- Leadership & Soft
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of delivering measurable business impact through data.
- Experience in the healthcare technology or financial technology industry is a significant plus.
