About the role

  • The University of Maryland's Department of Transportation Services (DOTS) is seeking an energetic and highly organized Shuttle-UM Bus Driver to provide safe and reliable transportation for students, staff, faculty, and guests.
  • Under the supervision of the Transit Operations Manager, the Bus Driver operates medium and heavy-duty commercial passenger vehicles to transport passengers efficiently and safely.
  • This role is responsible for ensuring vehicle readiness by conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections, maintaining cleanliness, refueling, and securing the vehicle after use.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine safety checks before and during vehicle operation, reporting any defects or maintenance concerns.
  • Maintain a clean and well-kept vehicle.
  • The University of Maryland's Department of Transportation Services (DOTS) delivers a wide range of parking and transportation solutions to a diverse campus community of over 50,000 students, faculty, and staff in the Greater College Park area.

Requirements

  • Required Application Materials: N/A
  • Ability to read and write
  • Required: Valid Maryland Commercial Class B driver's license (CDL) with a passenger endorsement and no air brake restrictions.

Skills

  • General knowledge of the care and operation of motorized equipment.
  • Skill in driving buses in all kinds of weather and road conditions.
  • Ability to read and write; to understand and follow oral and written instructions; and to assist passengers.
  • Ability to problem solve and respond appropriately to a variety of complicated passenger and driving issues.
  • Employees in this job class may be subject to pre-employment and random drug testing.
  • Medical Clearance for Driving a Vehicle (ex Commercial Drivers License)

Compensation

  • $44,053.00 - $52,707.00
