About the role

  • The ability to operate a radio system, to solve operator problems, reacts quickly and calmly in an emergency and adopt an effective course of action within established guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all job duties and responsibilities in a safe manner to protect one's self, fellow employees, and the public from injury or harm.
  • Ensure all employees and contractors are properly trained and understand all rules, safety policies, and procedures to perform their work functions safely.
  • Actively conduct workplace hazard analyses for all employees to maintain a safe work environment.

Requirements

  • Ability to pass DOT physical examination.
  • Must be able to pass federal government background screening process for local military installation access.
  • In order to be eligible, the Operator must have the following:
  • External candidates must have five years transit experience and/or equivalent experience required
  • Three years experience in supervisory/management capacity.

Nice to have

  • include the completion of an Associate's Degree in Business Management or Business Administration or related field.

Skills

  • Must be able to work with limited supervision from the Manager of Bus Transportation.
  • Must be able to learn the procedures and operation of a complex two-way radio and computer terminal system.
  • The ability to handle heavy radio traffic.
  • Must have considerable knowledge of the service area, routes and of types of equipment.
  • The ability to work independently and to concentrate for long periods of time is necessary.
  • The ability to read schedules, street maps, and local aids, and comprehend directions of travel.
  • Proficient in using CAD/AVL Radio System and HASTUS is required.
  • Ability to enter, correct and retrieve data using spreadsheets and word-processing software.
  • Basic problem-solving skills associated with software applications used is expected.
  • Software usage relevant to job duties will be evaluated.

Compensation

  • Hiring Salary: $70,000
