About the role
- Location: Fort Wayne Medical Oncology and Hematology Pay Range: $15.83 - $26.38 Job Description Summary: Assist physicians with medical procedures in office.
- Responsible for phlebotomy, laboratory testing, quality control, instrument troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- Prepares encounter form to charge patient for services received in office or initials all steps in process in EMR for electronic superbill.
Responsibilities
- Ability to build an engaging culture of quality, performance effectiveness and operational excellence through best practices, strong business and political acumen, collaboration and partnerships, as well as a positive employee, physician and community relations.
- Perform laboratory blood work.
- Perform blood draws Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing. Perform technical laboratory procedures in a timely manner with accuracy and precision, meeting the standards of all accrediting and regulating agencies.
- Maintain test report logs, quality control logs, equipment records, and checklists according to all regulatory agencies.
- Obtain vital signs, height, weight, pain level and PHQ9 depression screening of patient as requested by physician and document in the Onco/EMR system.
Requirements
- As required by state where employed.
- Previous Experience (including minimum years of experience)
- Must be detailed oriented with the ability to exercise independent judgment.
- Ability to work effectively with sensitive and confidential material and sometimes emotionally charged matters.
- Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-site environment with demonstrated ability to juggle competing priorities and demands from a variety of stakeholders and sites.
Skills
- Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook required.
- Good command of the English language.
- Second language is an asset but not required.
- Effective communication skills (oral, written, presentation), is an active listener, and effectively provides balanced feedback.
- Computer
- EMR.
- Standard Core Workdays/Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
- Occasional overtime may be required, and weekend shifts based on location hours and operational needs.
