Responsibilities
- We protect and steward farmland, watersheds, wildlife habitat, and land for public access in and around Santa Cruz County to support the environment, economy, and quality of life for future generations of people and wildlife.
- From that perspective, we partner with groups and individuals to preserve and steward land that people can access, enjoy, and fall in love with.
- Employee Relations & Performance Support Support positive employee relations, employee engagement, recognition programs, coaching, and problem-solving.
- Support supervisors with performance management processes, goal setting, feedback, and employee development.
- HR Systems & Data Management (Rippling) Maintain accurate employee records, reporting, workflows, and HR documentation within the Rippling platform.
- Recommend and implement process improvements for HR operations and employee experience.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and work effectively with employees at all levels.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
- Working closely with the Operations Manager and Leadership Team, the HR Manager will implement HR programs, advise supervisors, and support organization-wide initiatives.
Requirements
- Track required certifications, training, and employee development plans as applicable.
- Required Knowledge, Skills, Ability & Experience Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years of experience, including experience independently managing an organization's HR function, preferably in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
- Experience with project management systems, such as Asana or similar platforms.
Compensation
- Support compensation planning and salary administration in collaboration with leadership.
- Conduct HR data analyses such as compensation benchmarking, pay equity reviews, and demographic analyses, to inform hiring strategy, organizational equity goals, and long-term talent planning.
- $95,000 annually, with actual compensation prorated based on a 20-hour-per-week schedule.
