About the role
- AccuWeather is looking for an experienced software developer to support the modernization of our core forecast processing systems and methodologies, including the visualization of weather information. This role will help lead the design, implementation, and enhancement of software that processes real-time weather content and model data used within
- AccuWeather's suite of innovative consumer and enterprise products. The candidate should have demonstrated experience and knowledge in building and maintaining new components that ensure reliable processing, visualization, and representation of data.
Responsibilities
- Develops software that can easily be tested, deployed, updated, and monitored in a production environment
- Writes and maintains documentation of changes to software
- Trains end users or technical support staff to use and support software released into production
- Assists in developing new workflow, QC, and/or documentation activities for the team
- Perform ingestion, transformation, loading, and optimization of data from various sources
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 5+ years' experience in software development or related field
- Ability to make prompt, sound decisions when faced with complex and often contradictory alternatives that result in successful outcomes
- Strong experience with cloud-based architectures
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python
- Experience with relational databases

- This position will work cross-functionally with multiple development teams, senior leadership, and other groups in an Agile-based development environment.
- This hands-on position requires broad competence and technical knowledge of data processing and representation tools.
- Candidates should also have experience with cloud computing
- Azure certification is a plus.
- A suitable candidate will also possess a deep knowledge of multiple scripting languages, relational databases, and complex file and data structures.
- Experience with Agile software methodology a plus
