About the role
- include contractor coordination, construction supervision, field administration, and quality assurance.
- Serves as senior field authority and provides leadership, mentorship, oversight and strategic direction for construction execution.
- Serve as primary point of contact during construction phase for contractor coordination
Responsibilities
- Perform project and construction management and contract administration activities on small to large complex and diverse construction projects
- Mentor and develop construction management staff
- Use Port Houston defined project/construction management systems and practices, recommend improvements and efficiencies and assist in developing improved processes

- Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification required
Nice to have
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil or Structural Engineering, Architecture or related major in a public or accredited private academic institution required
- 10+ years of related experience required
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification preferred or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License required
- Certified Construction Manager (CCM) or Project Management Professional (PMP), preferred
Skills
- Knowledge of mathematical and scientific principles applied to civil/structural engineering
- Knowledge of construction methods, cost estimating and scheduling principles and best practices
- Knowledge of project management systems (Procore, Project mates, Tririga) and how it applies to the Construction and Engineering process
- Knowledge of safety precautions associated with the job
- Skill in negotiating claims, project changes, change orders, change directives or other contractual modifications
- Capable of negotiating claims, project changes, change orders, change directives or other contractual modifications
- Organization, time management and prioritization skills
- Project management skills
- Ability to meet scheduled deadlines
- Ability to understand, interpret, ensure compliance with, and enforce construction contract terms and conditions
- A current, valid Texas driver's license is required
