About the role

Characterize wild-type and mutant proteins biochemically via enzymatic assays and determine conditions for obtaining diffraction quality crystals and/or for cryo-electron microscopy analysis of proteins and protein/nucleic acid complexes.
Order chemicals and supplies specific to current project. - Provide instruction, assistance and mentoring to graduate students.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Ph.D. in structural biology and/or biochemistry with at least three years' experience and demonstrated research productivity on enzymes that bind nucleic acids and/or protein-nucleic acid complexes

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. ----
