About the role
- Meets productivity standards and quality benchmarks while assuring the confidentiality, accuracy and timeliness of all cancer-related health information encountered.
- Savista employs over 4000 colleagues and serves more than 500 client sites nationwide.
- Up-to-date on all current state and national reporting guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that data is accurate and complete. Participate in QA reviews and incorporate feedback to support skill development. Correct errors as needed. Consistent accuracy rate of 95% or higher.
- Manages databases, ensures data quality, and runs reports for internal and external use.
- Maintains Active ODS-C certification
- Maintains compliance with client's abstracting policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- May coordinate required submissions from the State Registry and CoC.

Skills
- Active ODS-C (Oncology Data Specialist - Certified) credential.
- Knowledge of latest guidelines from standard setters (CoC, SEER, and NAACCR), and the ability to apply them accurately.
- Must be able to meet deadlines and work with time constraints.
- Ability to multi-task and be flexible to adjust assignments as priorities change.
- Effective communication skills with supervisors and peers and appropriate communication with clients.
- Ability to organize and complete work in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to grow technical competencies.
- Minimum of 2 years of current abstracting experience in a cancer registry.
- Experience in CoC-accredited or comprehensive cancer programs.
