About the role
- This role will contribute to both new product development and ongoing improvements, ensuring successful delivery of hardware from concept through integration and testing.
- Additional tasks may be assigned to the employee from time to time or the scope of the job may change as needed by business demands.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical systems and mechanisms, including performing analysis and trade studies to optimize performance, efficiency, and manufacturability
- Execute detailed engineering design work in accordance with established standards, procedures, and program requirements
- Collaborate with internal teams to support system integration, assembly, and testing activities
- Partner with external vendors by defining requirements, reviewing designs, and tracking development progress
- Develop and maintain mechanical documentation, including requirements, drawings, interface definitions, and test procedures
- Define and validate mechanical interfaces between subsystems and components
- Support qualification testing (e.g., vibration, thermal, environmental) and evaluate results
- Troubleshoot hardware issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
- Present technical findings and design updates during reviews with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Identify and implement process improvements, new technologies, or innovative design approaches
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical design and analysis, preferably involving complex systems or hardware development
- Experience with PLM/PDM systems
Nice to have
- Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Additional experience in aerospace, space systems, or other high-performance environments
- Familiarity with multidisciplinary systems involving electrical or software components
- Data/Documentation Systems: Experience with PLM/PDM systems
Skills
- Proven problem-solving mindset and sense of ownership
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy of all documentation and deliverables
- Experience with industry-standard 3D modeling software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, NX, or similar)
- Familiarity with engineering analysis methods (e.g., FEA)
- Ability to work in both office and laboratory environments
- Capable of working hands-on with hardware, test setups, and precision instruments
- Ability to lift and move up to 25 lbs as needed
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working on a computer or performing hands-on tasks
- Technology Stack:
- CAD Tools: Experience with industry-standard 3D modeling software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, NX, or similar)
- Analysis Tools: Familiarity with engineering analysis methods (e.g., FEA)
