About the role

  • You will bridge the gap between technical execution and business strategy, ensuring our data infrastructure is scalable, reliable, and provides actionable insights for our climate-aligned energy and AI operations.
  • Conduct regular 1:1s, provide career development guidance, and foster a culture of high performance and psychological safety.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Act as the primary point of contact for data stakeholders across the company, ensuring the data team is unblocked and focused on the highest-priority initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Mentorship: Manage, coach, and grow a team of data engineers. Conduct regular 1:1s, provide career development guidance, and foster a culture of high performance and psychological safety.
  • Operational Excellence: Drive engineering best practices, including CI/CD, data quality monitoring (observability), and incident management processes.
  • Experience at a high-growth startup where you had to "build the plane while flying it."

Requirements

  • Leadership Experience: 5+ years of experience managing engineering teams, with a total of 7+ years in data engineering or software engineering.
  • Communication: Exceptional ability to translate complex technical challenges into business impact for stakeholders and executives.
  • People-First Mindset: A passion for mentorship and a demonstrated ability to help engineers level up in their careers.
  • Experience with bare metal, hyperscaler clouds, or GPU infrastructure.

Compensation

  • Compensation will be paid in the range of up to $215,000 -$260,000 + Bonus.
  • Compensation to be determined by the applicants knowledge, education, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
