About the role
- The Laurent Clerc National Deaf Education Center at Gallaudet University is a federally funded center with exemplary elementary and secondary education programs for deaf and hard of hearing students and is tasked with developing and disseminating innovative curricula, instructional techniques, and products nationwide while providing information, training, and technical assistance for parents and professionals to meet the needs of deaf and hard of hearing students from birth to age 21.

Responsibilities

- Implements plans in the classroom by providing effective instruction that is aligned with the school improvement plan to maximize student growth in reading, writing, emotional intelligence, and mathematics.
- Conducts on-going assessment of student progress; uses a variety of appropriate assessments, including standardized tests and portfolios, to document student performance.
- Develops IEP/IFSP based on assessment information; turns goals and objectives into classroom instruction; reviews IEP/IFSP regularly to monitor student progress toward meeting goals/objectives; provides quarterly reports about student progress.
- Maintains appropriate records on students, including attendance, grades, behavior incidents, progress toward meeting IEPs/IFSPs goals and objectives, communications with parents, and student meetings.
