About the role
- The Registered Respiratory Therapist treats people with disorders affecting the cardiopulmonary system such as asthma, emphysema, pneumonia, cardiovascular disorders and trauma.
- Effectively and efficiently diagnose and administer respiratory therapy modalities and medications for breathing disorders.
- Trained in labor and delivery and participate in C-sections and normal deliveries as needed.
Responsibilities
- Works closely with physicians, nurses and other associates to develop a plan of care for patients with acute and/or chronic cardiopulmonary disorders.
- Interview patients, perform chest exams and analyze tissue specimens.
- Manage ventilators and artificial airway devices for patients who can't breathe normally on their own.
- Performs care according to the population served on the unit as referenced in the Administrative, Scope of Services Policy.
- Performs other duties as needed or assigned.
- This position provides care and life support to patients in the emergency room, intensive care units and general hospital areas as we as specialty areas.
