About the role

  • As a Senior Software Development Manager at Wellfit, you will provide operational and people leadership across the software development organization.
  • This position will work closely with the Director of Development to ensure engineering teams are appropriately staffed, work is effectively prioritized, resources are fully utilized, and delivery commitments are achieved.

Responsibilities

  • Manage engineering capacity, workload balancing, and resource allocation across development teams.
  • Lead, coach, and develop software engineers across multiple product teams.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, provide performance feedback, and support employee growth and development.
  • Partner with Product Management, Architecture, QA, DevOps, Support, and Scrum Masters to ensure work is groomed, prioritized, and ready for development.
  • Support release readiness activities and ensure development teams are aligned with delivery objectives.
  • Collaborate with technical leadership to improve development processes, team effectiveness, and engineering best practices.
  • Technical direction, architecture decisions, and design authority remain with Architecture and the Principal/Senior Engineers.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 8+ years of software development experience.
  • 4+ years of experience leading software development teams and engineering organizations.
  • Experience managing multiple engineering teams, distributed teams, contractors, and vendor relationships.
  • Strong understanding of Agile software development methodologies and delivery practices.
  • Experience with resource planning, capacity management, utilization reporting, and release planning.
  • Experience managing contractor and vendor relationships.
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycles, engineering processes, and team delivery metrics.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with operational execution.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Experience working closely with Product Management, Architecture, QA, DevOps, and Support organizations.
