About the role
- Lumos is looking for a full-time OSP Project Engineer!
- As an OSP Project Engineer, you'll plan & prepare drawings for construction of new, overhead, or underground links, cables, & conduits to obtain optimum and economical utilization of communications facilities.
- The OSP Project Engineer is responsible for selecting the most cost beneficial route for all lines and equipment for projects - making sure that our network expands throughout the regions we're privileged to serve.

Requirements
- Strong knowledge of OSHA rules, site safety, National Electric Safety Code (NESC) requirements, and associated construction and telecommunications federal and local regulations.
- And as of April 1, 2025, we've joined forces with T-Mobile to launch T-Fiber-a joint venture that blends Lumos' infrastructure expertise with T-Mobile's national reach to bring fiber to more homes than ever before.

Company info
- Prepares detailed construction & installation drawings - designing fiber cable fields, splicing sequences in alignment with Network Planning.
- Provides estimates of labor and materials costs and design loss calculations.
- Maps and drafts utilizing CAD & manual processes - researches & updates International Construction Measurement Standards (ICMS) records, appropriate permits, and ISP designs.
- Manages & tracks
- OSP construction;
- Site preparation and permitting;
- OSP testing and acceptance standards;
- Creating design for local L2 and Transport architecture;
- Google Earth and various fiber mapping platforms.
- 5+ years of technical experience working in OSP Engineering, Construction, or Operations.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree preferred.
- Proactive, independent, and collaborative - takes initiative to keep on-task and on-target.
- Fiber and telecommunications industry experience is essential, with a strong understanding of industry standards, technologies, & processes critical for success in the role.
- Frequently operates computer, keyboard, and related peripherals.
