About the role

  • Lumos is looking for a full-time OSP Project Engineer!
  • As an OSP Project Engineer, you'll plan & prepare drawings for construction of new, overhead, or underground links, cables, & conduits to obtain optimum and economical utilization of communications facilities.
  • The OSP Project Engineer is responsible for selecting the most cost beneficial route for all lines and equipment for projects - making sure that our network expands throughout the regions we're privileged to serve.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of OSHA rules, site safety, National Electric Safety Code (NESC) requirements, and associated construction and telecommunications federal and local regulations.

Company info

  • Prepares detailed construction & installation drawings - designing fiber cable fields, splicing sequences in alignment with Network Planning.
  • Provides estimates of labor and materials costs and design loss calculations.
  • Maps and drafts utilizing CAD & manual processes - researches & updates International Construction Measurement Standards (ICMS) records, appropriate permits, and ISP designs.
  • Manages & tracks
  • OSP construction;
  • Site preparation and permitting;
  • OSP testing and acceptance standards;
  • Creating design for local L2 and Transport architecture;
  • Google Earth and various fiber mapping platforms.
  • 5+ years of technical experience working in OSP Engineering, Construction, or Operations.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree preferred.
  • Proactive, independent, and collaborative - takes initiative to keep on-task and on-target.
  • Fiber and telecommunications industry experience is essential, with a strong understanding of industry standards, technologies, & processes critical for success in the role.
  • Frequently operates computer, keyboard, and related peripherals.
