  • Sompo has a unique opportunity for an Underwriter in our Property team.
  • Our Commercial Specialty Property Canada team offers property coverage to commercial accounts with a focus on midsize to large domestic and Canadian domiciled multinational companies with a proactive approach to risk management.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, brokers, and other stakeholders to drive new business opportunities and build a strong book of business.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as claims, risk engineering, and legal, to assess and manage risks, resolve issues, and optimize business outcomes.
  • Collaborate and communicate, both in writing and verbally, with brokers and clients to gather information, clarify requirements, and negotiate terms and conditions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or relevant work experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in property underwriting in the Canadian market.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Knowledge of Canadian insurance regulations and market trends.
  • Ability to travel as required

Compensation

  • Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
  • This is why we offer competitive, high-quality compensation and benefit programs to eligible employees.
  • Our compensation program is built on a foundation that promotes a pay-for-performance culture, resulting in higher incentive awards, on average, when the Company does well and lower incentive awards when the Company underperforms.
  • The total compensation opportunity for all regular, full-time employees is a combination of base salary and incentives that gets adjusted upfront based on overall Company performance with final awards based on individual performance
  • $85,000 - $125,000 CAD.
