About the role

  • Essential Responsibilities and Duties: - Career Advising: Provides career advising to undergraduate students and alumni on all aspects of career planning, internship and employment/graduate school preparation.
  • Pitches in to assist colleagues as needed.
  • E-Verify Participation: Union College participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with employer relations team to support and promote employer and alumni engagement, consortia events, career fairs and other programming.
  • Collaborates with on-campus constituents to provide career readiness and professional development opportunities for students across campus.
  • Utilizes Handshake and Nexus platforms for student engagement management and supports content creation and management for UReady curriculum.
  • Supervises career assistants to support assigned project work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree plus one to three years of direct 1:1 career advising experience, preferably in a private liberal arts higher education setting, and/or a combination of relevant education, training, certifications, and work experience.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with the internship and employment recruitment process.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, presentation and teamwork skills to interact with varied constituencies (faculty, staff, students, alumni, parents, and employers).
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional judgment, ensure strict confidentiality, and demonstrate outstanding professionalism in a range of situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to support, contribute to and strengthen a vibrant, culturally diverse, and inclusive learning community of students, alumni, faculty, and fellow staff colleagues.
  • Willingness to conduct presentations occasionally during evenings, weekends, and work some holidays.

Nice to have

  • Master's degree in a related discipline.
  • Experience with administration of career related assessments (e.g., MBTI, Clifton Strengths).
  • Knowledge of college student development.
  • Desire to attend student-related events of interest outside of working hours.

Compensation

  • The annual salary range for this position is $62,353.20.
  • Except for roles with a set rate of pay, the wage/salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.
  • The stated hiring rate/range represents the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the rate/range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
