About the role
- Most student positions at American University are eligible to use Federal Work Study (FWS) awards, with a few exceptions.
- FWS funds cannot be applied to janitorial, construction, partisan or sectarian positions.
Responsibilities
- Support special projects and administrative communications as assigned.
- Support event branding, venue setup for AU Career Center programs, workshops, employer events, and career fairs.
- Photograph AU Career Center events as needed and activities to support future marketing and communications efforts.
- Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

- The incumbent must be a current or enrolled AU student.
- Federal Work-Study (FWS) eligibility is required.
- Candidates must be available to begin working during the first week of the Fall 2026 semester.
- Applications will be accepted until the position is filled or until 50 applications have been received, whichever comes first.
- This position is for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027, with a strong possibility of renewing for future semesters.
- Students who hold a FWS award are highly encouraged to apply.
- This position may be a mix of in-office and remote work.

- This position is available only to enrolled American University students.

Nice to have
- Interest in marketing, communications, public relations, event management.
- Experience with Canva, Microsoft Office, or Google Workspace.
- Basic photography and social media experience is a plus.

Compensation
- $18.50 per hour.
