Responsibilities
- As an product engineer at Grid, you'll build towards bold milestones in well-engineered, incremental releases.
- As an engineer, you'll own your implementations end to end and respond to production incidents as needed.
- You'll work closely with business operations and the core services engineering team to deliver a product that scales and just works.
Requirements
- Backend or Full-Stack Software Engineer: Significant experience (1+ years) writing consumer-grade backend software, ideally in Go (golang) deployed on GCP.
- Autonomy and Initiative: Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects, showcasing a proactive approach to identifying key leverage points for data products.

Nice to have
- Significant experience (1+ years) writing consumer-grade backend software, ideally in Go (golang) deployed on GCP.
- Proven experience in evented systems, data acquisition (screen scraping, crawling), data normalization and API integration is a plus.
- Demonstrated experience or understanding of web scrapers, data acquisition and normalization.
- Familiarity with the tax code or financial modeling is nice to have but not required.

- The role
- Americans receive ~$400B in tax refunds per year. A tax refund is in essence an interest free loan to the government. The average American overpays their taxes by ~$3K per year. We plan to change that by being an AI enabled automated tax specialist for the 80% of Americans that receive a tax refund. Our existing system has optimized tax withholdings for over 1M Americans so far, but we have plans to go much further.
