About the role

  • Position Description The Nuclear Science and Security Department has an opening for a Post Doc to assist with the development of AI/ML algorithms for remote sensing of uranium containing materials.
  • This is a multi-level role and the full salary range for this position is $71900 - $85000 / year.
  • You will be placed at the level and salary commensurate with your experience.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain spectral data base and upload data to community spectral data bases
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance

Requirements

  • Candidates must have received a Ph.D. by the commencement of employment.
  • This is due to nationwide identification requirements for federal site access as required by the federal REAL ID Act.

  • Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Skills

  • Ph.D. in Planetary Science, Earth Science, or Physical Geography
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with Generative Adversarial Networks (GAN) frameworks or Multi-Modal Large Language models (MLLMs)
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based research environment
  • Demonstrated track record of publication of research in high quality peer-reviewed journals and presentations
  • Experience in Remote Sensing application to earth or planetary science problems
  • Experience with ENVI/IDL image processing analysis software
  • Experience with coding languages, such as python.
  • Experience with spectroscopy of minerals or related materials
