About the role
- Entering and verifying patient information in the appropriate software(s)
- Handling enquiries regarding the Regional Genetics Program, from the general public and health care providers
- Triaging telephone calls appropriately depending on nature and urgency of the call
Responsibilities
- Filing on-site, as well as managing off-site storage of related documents
Requirements
- Aptitude for databases/software packages and ability to learn new software packages quickly (Essential)
- Obtaining missing information from referral sources as required
- Retrieving, mailing, faxing and scanning reports, and other materials as required
- Police Record Check (PRC) (Essential)
- High school diploma (Essential)
- College diploma in Medical Administration or related field (Preferred)
- Excellent interpersonal and customer-service skills (Essential)
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail (Essential)
- Ability to take initiative, work as part of a team and be flexible (Essential)
- Knowledge of medical terminology (Preferred)
- Previous clerical experience (Essential)
- Please note you will be represented by the Laborers International Union of North America (LiUNA).
