About the role
- Provides care to laboratory rodents; feed, water, changing cages, and health assessments on a daily basis.
- Administers treatments to animals as prescribed by Veterinarians.
- Assists in the training of new and existing employees in routine animal care procedures.
Responsibilities
- Performs basic breeding colony tasks, such as separating breeders and weaning litters.
- Performs cage wash duties, bagging and consolidation of caging for recycle, trash removal, disinfection of carts/racks.
Skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong time management skills.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Ability to apply general knowledge of the organization, job content, practices and procedures.
- Knowledge and skills necessary to be proficient in all aspects of job.
- Ability to perform repetitive hand motion (changing cages).
- Ability to be medically cleared to wear a respirator.
