About the role

  • Provides care to laboratory rodents; feed, water, changing cages, and health assessments on a daily basis.
  • Administers treatments to animals as prescribed by Veterinarians.
  • Assists in the training of new and existing employees in routine animal care procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Performs basic breeding colony tasks, such as separating breeders and weaning litters.
  • Performs cage wash duties, bagging and consolidation of caging for recycle, trash removal, disinfection of carts/racks.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Ability to apply general knowledge of the organization, job content, practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge and skills necessary to be proficient in all aspects of job.
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand motion (changing cages).
  • Ability to be medically cleared to wear a respirator.
