About the role

This position will play a pivotal role in managing regulatory accounting functions, particularly related to North Dakota severance taxes, Office of Natural Resources Revenue (ONRR) reporting, and state royalties.
This position is located in downtown Houston, TX.
Hybrid work schedule is an option for remote work on Mondays and Fridays.

Work closely with internal teams and external tax advisors to maintain compliance with North Dakota tax regulations.
Collaborate with land, legal, and revenue teams to resolve any royalty-related discrepancies or disputes.
Maintain documentation related to regulatory reporting and tax filings for audit and internal review purposes.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Engineering, Business, or related field.
5 years of relevant industry experience in regulatory accounting for an E&P operator within the upstream oil & gas sector.
Expertise in reporting software such as Procount/Carte, Enertia, and other upstream ERP systems.
Proficiency in data analysis, SQL queries, and data visualization tools such as Power BI, Spotfire, and Excel.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret large datasets and translate them into actionable insights.
Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey complex data insights and reports to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and fluid environment

Experience in tribal ONRR compliance
Experience in automation and systems integration within production reporting processes to enhance efficiency and data accuracy.
Advanced proficiency in SQL, with the ability to write complex queries for data extraction and analysis.

Provide guidance on regulatory issues, accounting procedures, and ensure the company's compliance efforts are up to date.
