About the role
- This Research Scientist will conduct research in molecular virology, cell biology, and drug discovery.
- Engage in laboratory research, analyze data and information, evaluate and report findings to senior research faculty and research staff.
- Oversee and mentor postdoctoral fellows and doctoral and medical student trainees; participate in the oversight of laboratory activities.
Responsibilities
- The individual will develop and perform experiments, create research protocols, and apply scientific methods to support research projects in the Ocular Virology Lab.
- Duties Responsibilities Design experiments related to neurovirology research using tissue cultured cells, organoids and animal models Perform behavioral assays in animal models to understand the effects of herpes infection on the brain.
- Perform molecular and cellular experiments to understand molecular and genetic mechanisms driving herpes infection using cell culture, molecular biology and cell-based assays.
- Author publications in peer-reviewed journals, make presentations of papers to professional societies and develop new designs or techniques that are of material significance in the solution of important applied programs.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
