Perform a full range of laboratory testing using manual and automated methods, evaluate results, and resolve testing issues using scientific principles.
Evaluate and resolve problems with specimen collection and processing, maintain and document equipment performance, and perform calibration, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.
Perform and document quality control and assurance activities, adhere to biosafety and biosecurity regulations, and identify and resolve discrepancies.
Verify, edit, and enter laboratory data into the LIS, recognize and report critical values, and fully document communication.
Organize work to meet deadlines, properly process and validate specimens, and ensure accurate labeling and specimen integrity.
Process, package, and ship reference laboratory specimens in compliance with regulatory requirements, document test orders, meet shipment deadlines, and report critical values per policy.
Support operations by reviewing, scanning, processing, and documenting specimens and manifests.
Ability to accurately perform pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of testing.

A bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
MLS(ASCP) certification, Previous clinical experience in blood banking, chemistry, hematology, microbiology, immunology, and urinalysis/body fluids Knowledge of clinical laboratory testing policies and procedures.
Knowledge of laboratory quality control and quality assurance principles.
Knowledge of laboratory equipment and routine maintenance.
Ability to work as a team member and effectively complete assignments.
Ability to read and interpret written instructions.

$45.00 per hour Schedule: Monday through Friday 12:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. 3:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. Sunday night through Thursday Night Shift 10:30 p.m. - 6:30 a.m. Location: Wilmington VA Medical Center, 1601 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE Requirements: Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently, without sponsorship.
