Responsibilities
- Perform a full range of laboratory testing using manual and automated methods, evaluate results, and resolve testing issues using scientific principles.
- Evaluate and resolve problems with specimen collection and processing, maintain and document equipment performance, and perform calibration, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.
- Perform and document quality control and assurance activities, adhere to biosafety and biosecurity regulations, and identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Verify, edit, and enter laboratory data into the LIS, recognize and report critical values, and fully document communication.
- Organize work to meet deadlines, properly process and validate specimens, and ensure accurate labeling and specimen integrity.
- Process, package, and ship reference laboratory specimens in compliance with regulatory requirements, document test orders, meet shipment deadlines, and report critical values per policy.
- Support operations by reviewing, scanning, processing, and documenting specimens and manifests.
- Ability to accurately perform pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of testing.

Requirements
- A bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
- MLS(ASCP) certification, Previous clinical experience in blood banking, chemistry, hematology, microbiology, immunology, and urinalysis/body fluids Knowledge of clinical laboratory testing policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of laboratory quality control and quality assurance principles.
- Knowledge of laboratory equipment and routine maintenance.
- Ability to work as a team member and effectively complete assignments.
- Ability to read and interpret written instructions.
Compensation
- $45.00 per hour Schedule: Monday through Friday 12:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. 3:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. Sunday night through Thursday Night Shift 10:30 p.m. - 6:30 a.m. Location: Wilmington VA Medical Center, 1601 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE Requirements: Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently, without sponsorship.
