About the role
- You'll contribute meaningfully to the reliability, performance, and maintainability of our critical financial infrastructure, directly shaping how our customers and taskers experience money.
- Our AI & Innovation team is a new incubator for AI projects at Taskrabbit, focused on opportunities that improve the client experience, like how clients discover, describe, and book the help they need.
- As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll dive deep into our systems, delivering new features while advocating for engineering rigor and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Tech Lead: Lead complex, cross-team technical initiatives.
- Solver: Translate ambiguous, high-stakes business goals into clear technical strategies, designs, and experiments.
- Champion AI-Driven Development: Lead the adoption of Spec-Driven Development (SDD) leveraging advanced AI tools, ensuring engineers consistently turn well-defined specs into robust, scalable Node.js implementations and comprehensive test suites.
- Once a project shows validated, high-impact results, it's handed off to the team best positioned to own it long-term.
Requirements
- 5 years professional software engineering including a mix of frontend and backend experience, with demonstrated impact (leading complex domains, influencing multiple teams).
- Hands-on experience with async/event-driven systems (Kafka) and microservice architecture.
- Proven track record designing and owning observability/alerting for critical systems.
- Excellent communication, ability to influence without authority, and a strong ownership mentality for systems handling money and trust.
- Experience with Spec Driven Development.
- Hands-on AI tools experience.
- Experience with rebuilding legacy software systems.
- Familiarity with microservice and event-driven architectures at scale.
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future.
Nice to have
- familiarity with Ruby on Rails is a plus.
- Extensive professional experience with Node.js and microservice architecture
Compensation
- At Taskrabbit, our approach to compensation is designed to be competitive, transparent, and equitable.
- Total compensation consists of base pay + bonus + benefits + perks.
- The base pay range for this position is $130,000 - $180,000.
- This range is representative of base pay only, and does not include any other total cash compensation amounts, such as company bonus or benefits.
