Responsibilities

  • Consults with faculty and staff to support effective and consistent implementation of academic accommodations across classroom, laboratory, online, and placement settings;
  • Supports students in developing self-advocacy skills, understanding functional limitations, and accessing appropriate academic, technological, and financial supports;
  • Maintains accurate, confidential case records and documentation in accordance with privacy legislation and college policies;
  • Develops and delivers accessibility‑related workshops and resources for students, faculty, and staff;

Requirements

  • o Extensive knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, regulations, and case law related to accessibility and human rights (AODA, OHRC, HRTO, etc.)

Skills

  • and coordinating services to remove educational barriers for students with disabilities.
  • These strategic approaches will be based on proven psychological theories of learning and processing deficits.
  • They will also enhance social/cognitive development in the college environment.

Compensation

  • Many roles offer a competitive base salary and comprehensive benefits, including health, dental, and retirement plans designed to support your well-being.
  • $40.62-$47.06-Hourly

  • Collaborates with internal departments and external community partners to support student success and promote accessible learning environments;
  • Performs other related duties in support of the Centre for Accessible Learning and institutional priorities.
  • Eligibility for benefits vary by position.
  • Reporting to the Manager, The Centre for Accessible Learning, the Accessible Learning Advisor is responsible for informing and guiding students on accessibility services and academic accommodations
  • Select positions are eligible for hybrid work in accordance with the College's Flexible Work Arrangement Policy https://www.algonquincollege.com/policies/hr26/ (subject to change).
