About the role

  • They will also provide daily oversight of all student staff for all programs within their responsibility (75+ student staff).
  • Under the general management of the Manager, Facility Operations & Business Development, this position is responsible for all aspects of front-line operations including but not limited to
  • development, implementation, and evaluation of events/projects/programs, and staff management - including recruitment, hiring, personal/professional development, recognition, evaluation, and discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the development and delivery of program and events promotion by taking the lead on coordinating marketing materials and campaigns through print and online, and in-person promotions as well as outreach to community partners, where necessary.
  • This position will oversee all aspects of the UBC Recreation programs, events, camps, and Jr Heat programs as well as provide support to the Athletics & Recreation team.
  • Manages, develops and/or enhances community partnerships to establish fundraising and community engagement opportunities that will support scholarships or leadership opportunities for varsity, sport club, and junior heat athletes/programs.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • This position is subject to the satisfactory completion of required background checks

Nice to have

  • Experience in staff or volunteer management on a large scale (teams of 40+) who are working in a variety of roles.
  • Relevant experience in a post-secondary environment in event, sport or recreation programming.
  • Experience coordinating complex programs including development, planning, and implementation of ideas collaboratively with stakeholder groups.
  • Exceptional communications skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proven ability to organize recreational events and coordinate student development programs.
  • Ability to deal with a diversity of people in a calm, respectful, and effective manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a variety of different stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience and/or training in personal development, conflict resolution, inclusivity, mentorship, and leadership.

Compensation

  • $5,964.75 - $8,573.08 CAD Monthly The Compensation Range is the span between the minimum and maximum base salary for a position.
  • In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range for a job.
