About the role

  • The Dean of Curriculum and Instruction (DOCI) serves as an instructional leader of either the lower or upper school, ensuring that every classroom facilitates rigorous, engaging, and equitable instruction.
  • Additionally, this role teaches one section of a course to provide an exemplar classroom model.
  • The DOCI is a member of the upper or lower school leadership team.

Responsibilities

  • Instructional Leadership Lead the implementation of high-quality instruction aligned to Carmen's Arc of the Year framework.
  • Partner with APA to co-lead PD, both campus and network-based, and data-driven reteach cycles.
  • Responsible for network leadership of course taught including pacing calendar, materials, co-planning with collaboration partner(s).
  • Manage, coach, and develop 6 - 8 teachers and/or teacher leaders toward meeting their performance and development goals.
  • Collaborate with the Principal to ensure performance management processes are implemented with consistency and clarity.

Requirements

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple priorities with excellence.
  • Solutions-oriented mindset and ability to adapt as needed.

Nice to have

  • Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience required, minimum of 1 year in a part-time or full-time instructional leadership role preferred Proven track record of improving student outcomes through data-driven leadership.

Skills

  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and change management skills.
