  • This position requires knowledge of state, federal and system financial assistance programs.
  • The Financial Counselor is responsible for maintaining knowledge of JCAHO, HIPPA, and Patient Rights & Responsibilities.
  • The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining knowledge of the Financial Policy, Charity.
  • Knowledge of CPT codes and all relevant NPI and TPI is essential for securing correct authorizations and referrals.
  • CPR certification required within 30 days of employment.

Nice to have

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 3 years Hospital, Financial Counseling, or Physician Office Experience required
  • Knowledge of government programs, HMOs, PPOs, Commercial Payors, required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Typing and Computer experience required.
  • Knowledge of ESRD preferred.
  • Bi-lingual preferred

Skills

  • Strong critical thinking, time management, problem-solving, and customer service skills
  • Transplant coordination experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Patient Access Services functions
  • Experience verifying insurance eligibility, benefits, prior authorizations, and referrals
  • Extensive knowledge of HMOs, PPOs, Commercial Payors, HSAs, COBRA, Medicaid, STAR plans, CSHCN, CHIP, and financial assistance programs
  • Detail-oriented, adaptable, and professional in handling challenging situations
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external providers
  • Strong documentation skills
