- This position requires knowledge of state, federal and system financial assistance programs.
- The Financial Counselor is responsible for maintaining knowledge of JCAHO, HIPPA, and Patient Rights & Responsibilities.
- The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining knowledge of the Financial Policy, Charity.
- Knowledge of CPT codes and all relevant NPI and TPI is essential for securing correct authorizations and referrals.
- CPR certification required within 30 days of employment.
Nice to have
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 3 years Hospital, Financial Counseling, or Physician Office Experience required
- Knowledge of government programs, HMOs, PPOs, Commercial Payors, required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Typing and Computer experience required.
- Knowledge of ESRD preferred.
- Bi-lingual preferred
Skills
- Strong critical thinking, time management, problem-solving, and customer service skills
- Transplant coordination experience preferred
- Knowledge of Patient Access Services functions
- Experience verifying insurance eligibility, benefits, prior authorizations, and referrals
- Extensive knowledge of HMOs, PPOs, Commercial Payors, HSAs, COBRA, Medicaid, STAR plans, CSHCN, CHIP, and financial assistance programs
- Detail-oriented, adaptable, and professional in handling challenging situations
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external providers
- Strong documentation skills
