About the role
- The actuators enable our robots to move and accomplish their complex work - this is a critical role on the Atlas team.
- You will be responsible for guiding a team of Architects and Mechanical Engineers, mentoring and coaching people as well as providing technical oversight and backstopping.
Responsibilities
- This role sits at the intersection of product design, cutting edge motor drive and sensing technology, and manufacturing, shaping how complex electromechanical systems are conceived, integrated, brought to life at scale, and maintained in the field.
- Your team will own all aspects of electrical system design from initial architecture, through implementation, and into production.
Requirements
- Experience working across disciplines and influencing technical direction without direct authority.
- Comfort operating in ambiguous problem spaces and setting technical direction for others.
- Extensive experience with power electronics and/or motor drives
- Experience with design and validation of high speed communication interfaces
- Experience with High-Density Interconnect (HDI) PCB routing and deep knowledge of PCB fabrication and assembly processes
- Working knowledge of Linux, bootloaders, and peripheral drivers
- Expert-level proficiency using schematic capture and PCB layout software

Nice to have
- Firmware development in C
- Experience with volume manufacturing
- Experience with Python, LabView, or MATLAB
- A working knowledge of failure avoidance methods like DFMEA/PFMEA and structured problem solving methods like 8D
- This range represents a good faith estimate of compensation at the time of posting.

Compensation
- The base pay range for this position is between $150,000 to $200,000 annually.
