About the role

  • The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience designing, fabricating, assembling, documenting, and testing mechatronic systems that include multi-axis actuation.

Responsibilities

  • Mechatronic Hardware Design: Design complex electro-mechanical systems from concept through production release, including: Design elegant hardware solutions that function with efficiency and simplicity.
  • Validating your own designs through hands-on prototyping and testing.
  • Documentation & Quality: Drive high standards for engineering documentation and design reviews for production release.
  • Communicate with vendors effectively to drive rapid design cycles through completion.
  • Expertise in the design and specification of actuators, motors, and sensing technologies (encoders, load cells, proximity sensors, etc.).
  • Experience validating designs with structural finite element analysis (FEA).
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, enthusiasm for problem solving, and desire to drive innovative solutions from concept through production in a fast-paced startup environment.

Nice to have

  • MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Expertise in system dynamics, simulation, modeling, and vibration analysis.
  • Experience performing static and dynamic load calculations and kinematic analysis.
  • Experience working with industrial controls systems.
  • Matlab or Python experience.
  • Work with cross-functional teams, including electrical, controls, software, and perception engineers, to ensure solutions are aligned and integrated with product goals.
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of applicable professional experience in the robotics or automation industry.
