About the role
- Total Wine & More is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our Technology team in our Bethesda, MD office.
- Establish and champion engineering best practices, including version control, CI/CD, automated testing, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Contribute to platform architecture decisions, tooling evaluations, and documentation that raise the engineering bar across the team.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable, fault-tolerant batch and streaming data pipelines that ingest data from internal systems, third-party platforms, and APIs.
- Own the reliability, performance, and cost-efficiency of data infrastructure, including monitoring, alerting, and capacity planning.
- Partner with analytics engineers, BI developers, and business stakeholders to deliver well-structured, analytics-ready datasets into the warehouse and lakehouse layers.
Requirements

- Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally in a large, matrixed organization.
Nice to have
- Bachelor'sDegree Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering preferred or equivalent years of experience
- 3-6 years of experience in data engineering, building and operating production data pipelines at scale. preferred
- Familiarity with BI and analytics tooling (e.g., Power BI, dbt) and how downstream consumers use engineered data is a plus.
Skills
- Expert-level SQL and strong programming skills in Python, with hands-on experience in Spark or similar distributed processing frameworks.
Compensation
- The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location.
- $122,200.00 - $165,000.00 Annual
