About the role
- The Department of Community Corrections is currently looking to hire a Transition Coordinator to join our team.
- The Transition Coordinator provides life skills counseling and program supervision to adult justice-involved individuals (JIIs) in a residential correctional program.
- This position is represented by the AFSCME labor organization.
Responsibilities
- The purpose of this project is to create new job descriptions and create new classification and compensation systems.
- Establish and maintain accurate and complete records.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with individuals and groups who come from diverse backgrounds and represent members of the public, coworkers, and/or vendors.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, corrections, counseling, or a related field
- AND one (1) year of experience in corrections, criminal justice, counseling, social work, or a related field
- Associate's Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, corrections, counseling, or a related field AND two (2) years of experience in corrections, criminal justice, counseling, social work, or a related field
- High school diploma or equivalent AND four (4) years of experience in corrections, criminal justice, counseling, social work, or a related field.
- The department supervises approximately 3600 adult JIIs and applies proven behavioral strategies that reduce recidivism and promote community safety.

- Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, corrections, counseling, or a related field; AND one (1) year of experience in corrections, criminal justice, counseling, social work, or a related field; OR
- Associate's Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, corrections, counseling, or a related field AND two (2) years of experience in corrections, criminal justice, counseling, social work, or a related field; OR
Skills
- Actively listen and be socially perceptive.
- Apply critical thinking to complex issues.
- Provide individual and group counseling.
Compensation
- $36.30 - $44.12 Hourly
