About the role

  • Works under the supervision of experienced ophthalmic professionals to learn the essential skills and techniques used to diagnose and treat eye conditions.
  • Essential Functions: - Under the guidance and supervision of a certified technician, the trainee will shadow and learn.

Responsibilities

  • Under the guidance and supervision of a certified technician, handles and maintains ophthalmic equipment and instruments properly.
  • Maintains accurate patient records and ensures proper documentation of services. Adheres to infection control and safety protocols. Attends training sessions and workshops to improve skills and knowledge in ophthalmology.
  • Performs clinical-clerical office duties, including scheduling, completing request forms, printing results, ordering contact lenses, and related administrative activities. Stocks rooms according to practice needs
  • Learns to perform preliminary diagnostic tests, including visual acuity testing, tonometry, and refraction.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Skills

  • Strong interest in the field of ophthalmology and eye care preferred.
  • Ability to learn new concepts and technologies preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills preferred.
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy preferred.

Compensation

  • The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job.
  • Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
