About the role

  • We are seeking a Master Carpenter with extensive experience in exhibit fabrication and custom casework for an initial 6‑ to 8‑week contract.
  • Exceptional performance during the contract may open the door to a full‑time role with our team.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with designers, project managers, and other craftsmen to ensure design intent and quality standards are met.
  • Maintain a safe and organized workshop, adhering to all safety protocols.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in exhibit fabrication or custom casework.
  • Proficiency with woodworking tools, machinery, and fabrication techniques.
  • Strong understanding of materials, including wood, laminates, acrylics, and metals.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Experience with CNC machinery and digital fabrication tools.
  • Familiarity with museum-quality standards and conservation considerations.
  • Knowledge of finishing techniques, including staining, painting, and laminating.
