About the role
- The Automation Technician I is an entry-level technical position responsible for assisting with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of automation and control systems.
- Assist with the installation, wiring, and commissioning of automation and control systems.
- Assist with running conduit, pulling cable, and terminating control wiring.
Responsibilities
- Support installation and maintenance of PLC panels, instrumentation devices, sensors, and control wiring.
- Help install and maintain instrumentation such as pressure transmitters, flow meters, level sensors, and temperature devices.
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems or industrial equipment.
- Ability to safely use hand tools and basic power tools.
- The Automation Technician I is expected to follow company safety procedures, learn industry best practices, and develop the technical skills required to work independently in industrial and oil and gas environments.
- Participate in job safety meetings, hazard assessments, and required safety training.
- Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in required safety meetings and safety training.
- Wear required PPE including flame-resistant clothing and other protective equipment as required by the work environment.
Nice to have
- Technical certificate or coursework in electrical technology, instrumentation, or automation.
- Basic familiarity with PLC systems such as Allen-Bradley or Siemens.
- Experience with industrial electrical or instrumentation work.
- OSHA 10 certification.
- H2S Awareness training.
- First Aid / CPR certification.
- Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds.
