About the role

  • Marathon Petroleum Company (MPC) is currently accepting applications for a shore-based Marine Tankerman.
  • This position will be based out of the Garyville/Mt.
  • Airy, LA area and will report to the Marine Tankering Services Supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance on barges.
  • Maintain records and document all transfer times to be turned into the office in a timely manner.
  • Maintain uniforms and equipment necessary for transfers in good, clean condition so as to be ready and available for each barge transfer.

Requirements

  • High School (Required)
  • Tankerman must be able to work in all weather conditions, both day and night, as the job assignment requires.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.

  • A valid USCG issued Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) with Tankerman-PIC (Barge) endorsement, and a DL (dangerous liquid) qualification is required.
