About the role

  • The Business Analyst - Actuarial, Commercial Lines role sits within the Global Data Office at the intersection of business strategy, data, and analytics, and works closely with Commercial Lines Actuarial Groups.

Responsibilities

  • Business Requirements: Lead deep, structured requirement sessions with senior actuaries to understand workflows, data nuances, and reporting needs, creating detailed functional specifications.
  • Product Owner for Data Platform & Tool Development: Develop roadmaps for actuarial data and tool development requirements and partner with data engineers to build and deploy them in timely manner.
  • Lead Agile Ceremonies: Act as the Business Analyst Lead within an agile team, facilitating user story refinement, sprint planning, and daily scrums.
  • Data Governance & Quality: Ensure compliance with data standards and maintain rigorous documentation for data lineage, testing, and production changes.
  • This approach helps us work together effectively and create a supportive, connected environment for our team and clients alike.

Requirements

  • Actuarial Knowledge: Strong understanding of Commercial Insurance actuarial concepts (e.g., reserving methods, pricing tools)
  • Data Proficiency: Experience with data environments, ETL and visualization tools
  • 7+ years of experience in business analysis, actuarial tool design within the insurance/financial industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Mathematics, or related field.
  • Experience with data environments, ETL and visualization tools

Nice to have

  • Actuarial Credentials, actuarial exams, or deep understanding of actuarial reserving/pricing concepts.

Compensation

  • For positions based in New Jersey, the base salary range is $120,000 - $150,000.
  • For positions based in New York, the base salary range is $130,000 - $160,000.
