Ability to learn, understand, explain, and communicate a variety of degree requirements and policies.
Ability to work with a wide variety of student needs including referrals to internal and external resources.
working knowledge of Microsoft Office software
experience with and comfort utilizing multiple types of technology to provide advising services.
Experience with project management.
Experience with early alert and/or student success software such as Navigate 360.
Ability to plan, organize, and administer multiple activities and meet deadlines.

Job Description
Academic Advising provides a safe and respectful environment to collaborate with students on course selection, understanding degree requirements, and preparing for degree completion or credit transfer to other academic institutions.
Each student is assigned an academic advisor who practices Appreciative Advising methodology.
The Academic Advisor at Anoka-Ramsey Community serves as a member of a professional team providing comprehensive advising services for Anoka-Ramsey Community College students who are: Clarifying their academic interests, preparing for admission to majors, pursuing declared majors, and changing their academic goals.
This position provides leadership and direction for the department, schedule coordination, hiring and training student workers.

One (1) year of professional experience in advising or student services in higher education.
Experience working with veterans and military‑connected students, including familiarity with veterans benefits and related processes.
Master's degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education or related field
